Scope of a Screening vs. Evaluation(as per Children’s Special Services. LLC)
A screening is a preliminary assessment using both subjective and objective tools to assess basic developmental levels.
It is not an evaluation it is a first look at developmental levels.
An evaluation encompasses standardized tests, for an in-depth look at perceptual, fine motor, gross motor, task processing, social/emotional reactions, sensory integrative functions and more. It is an investigative process that looks more to what the child is capable of, rather than their current level of performance. The purpose is to uncover potential, and why the child is having issues.
